"Magnificent Herend Porcelain Dinner Service, Queen Victoria Pattern, 66 Pieces."
Magnificent porcelain dinner service by Herend, Queen Victoria model, 66 pieces. The Hungarian Herend manufactory owes its fame to the special beauty and uniqueness of its many hand-decorated services. The "Victory" decoration by Fischer Mor made the manufactory famous throughout the world in the early 1850s. Yellow, red, blue and purple roses, butterflies and other small insects make up this oriental-inspired but h-style decoration, which was a huge success at the London World's Fair in 1851. In addition to the gold medal awarded by the jury, the recognition is also due to the fact that Queen Victoria of England herself, after whom the service is named, commissioned the "Butterfly" service for Windsor Castle. It consists of: 23 dinner plates (diameter: 25.5 cm). 12 dessert plates (diameter: 19 cm). 12 soup plates (diameter: 25 cm). 12 bread plates (diameter: 15 cm). 1 oval dish (36.5 cm by 27 cm). 1 soup tureen (25 cm by 16.5 cm). 1 sauce boat (23 cm by 17 cm). 1 hollow round dish (diameter: 25 cm) 1 oval dish (26 cm by 22 cm) 1 triangular dish (25 cm) 1 double salt cellar.
