"Tchamba Fetish, North Togo"
Fetish statue showing a standing figure. The torso is cylindrical and the arms are absent. The face is succinct and is composed of three holes to signify the eyes and the mouth. The head ends with a crest. The material is interesting because smooth wood alternates with bark. The statue is covered with a sacrificial patina with remains of feathers here and there. The workmanship takes us back to the Tchamba culture with influences, at the level of the face, of the people living in the North of Togo. Very beautiful presence for this atypical fetish.
Wood, slight losses, sacrificial crust, feathers.
