"Photograph Circa 1940 By Marcel Herrand"
Interesting photo of Marcel Herrand in theater costume, taken at the beginning of the war. Marcel Herrand (1897-1953) was an important theater and cinema actor of the interwar period. From 1939, he directed the Mathurins theater. We can no longer count the major roles in the Cinema, Lacenaire in Les enfants du Paradis, in Ruy Blas, Fantomas, or the green domino. His strict elegance and his very particular phrasing often reserve him for the tortuous roles of villains. This photo is also covered with the stamp of German censorship, which quickly applied to all aspects of Parisian cultural life under the occupation. The photo is placed in a fine modern frame in solid silver of Thai origin. Dimensions of the photo: 13.2 cm x 18 cm very good condition.
