Object description :

"Southwest Pottery: Yellow Glazed Earthenware Stoneware"
South-West pottery: beautiful yellow glazed grésale (or tian). Two chips: one on the upper edge, one on the spout. Otherwise in very good condition, no cracks. The enamel, still very well preserved, is resplendent. Good size, beautiful model.

Versatile container widely used in the south and southwest of France, as well as in Spain. It is roughly the equivalent of the current basin. The gresale is used for preparing food (making jams, preserves, pâtés, sausage meat, etc.), to collect the blood when killing the pig. Its use has extended to tableware. The gresale is not a dish for cooking food, but only for preparing it. It is not made to withstand cooking temperatures.
Another gresale for sale on my gallery.
