********************************************

Pewter bowl with polylobed and openwork console ears and a slightly nippled and molded lid, with a top-shaped grip.
Hallmark of Pierre Jacques BOYLEAU received as a master in Paris before 1703 and "pewter potter of the Maison du Roi" from 1721:
1°- crowned hammer / P / PIB, affixed twice.
2°- cruciferous globe on a sea / sun / 170(-) / BO(----).
Length: 30.9 cm.
VERSAILLES, First half of the 18th century

Superb and sober model of bowl in perfect condition - The silvering is most likely later.
In 1729, this master settled in Versailles, a city in which, unlike Paris, the control is practically never affixed. Its absence on this bowl therefore suggests a Versailles provenance.
Bibliography: "Etains, Paris 1643-1791" Ph. Boucaud and M. Schonn
