HELMET OF GROUND PERSONNEL OF AIR FORCE UNITS, modified 1937, Second World War. 28582R Shell stamped in one piece in a sheet of manganese steel. Slightly oval hemispherical shell, extended by a neck cover in the shape of a curved crescent, without crest. Ventilation thanks to two pairs of 4 mm holes spaced 37 mm apart, located on the sides. Metal ring placed astride the perimeter with the exception of the front of the shell where the "visor" is reduced to a simple right-angled fold of the metal. Headband consisting of a bead of felt strips, covered and trapped in a blackened leather sheath. Painted Louise blue. Stamped and cut metal roundel presenting a winged star framing the initials "RF" of the French Republic. Suspension provided by four mild steel spring blades in the shape of a racket with a folded handle fixed to the four cardinal points by a pair of tubular rivets. Model 1937 headdress consisting of a blackened and glazed sheepskin headband, on the edge of which is sewn internally a honeycomb rubber headband with a strip of strong canvas glued directly to the rubber. Manufacturer's stamp dated 1940. Headband bordered with six wolf teeth with perforation at the end, intended for the passage of the depth adjustment ribbon. Stainless steel staples sewn in pairs to the cardinal points of the headdress. In the background, shock absorber buffer of the motorcycle units. Blackened and glazed leather flaps sewn on each side of the headdress, oval opening made at the ear, support a chinstrap system. Strap ending in a point with eyelets for attaching the tongue. France.
