A rare depiction of the Virgin intent on breastfeeding the Child.
The little one approaches the Mother's breast with his mouth to receive breast milk.
The Virgin is sumptuously dressed in a dress decorated with gold embroidery.
With her left hand she holds the Child and with her right she opens her bodice.
Their faces turn towards the viewer involving him in the scene.
The pictorial quality of this splendid icon is of the highest level.
It is a magnificent example of Byzantine art graced by an evident Venetian influence that illuminates it with light and color.
It also stands out for its excellent state of conservation in relation to the era, in the absence of restorations or repainting.
