A Tokyo School okimono carved from a single block of ivory depicting two children intent on curiously observing a small fish.

The kimonos, carved with extreme mastery, are embellished with carefully modeled folds and obi bows.

Signature ‘Hokei saku’ engraved under the base.

Period: Meiji late 19th century.
Dimensions: 19 x 11 x 10 cm.
Condition: Excellent. There are natural ivory streaks on the face and on the base, partially retouched.
