"A Japanese Folding Screen Decorated With A Naturalistic Scene"
Byōbu folding screen, 屏風, six panels with gold leaf background, decorated with a naturalistic scene of elegant simplicity, depicting flowers and a stream.
The composition depicts a stream framed by irises and poppies, animated by the presence of a nightingale and a dragonfly in flight.
The panels are framed by black lacquer, completed with patinated bronze hardware.

Period: Meiji, late 19th century.
Dimensions: 172 x 376.5 cm.
Condition: Excellent general condition. There are slight wear, creases in the paper and small holes (hardly visible) between the joints of the panels. Slight wear on the lacquered wooden frame. The paper on the back has been reinforced and shows wear. There is a small crack in the paper along the third 3rd panel at the top right.
