"Round Wooden And Mother-of-pearl Box, Atalante, Late 19th Century"
This round box elegantly combines burl wood and mother-of-pearl. It features a delicate engraved scene of Atalanta, the work of sculptor Paul Grandhomme. The finesse of the work is highlighted by the inscription engraved around the edge: Grandhomme Monel. Despite a slight crack visible on the mother-of-pearl, this piece remains a magnificent example of craftsmanship, combining noble materials and artistic mastery.

In Greek mythology, Atalanta is a heroine. She was educated by Artemis after being abandoned by her father. Two traditions exist about her, both emphasizing her initial refusal to marry and her extraordinary exploits in ancient Greek society.
