Allegory of Love
Miniature in Grisaille
This delicate miniature, made in grisaille, illustrates an allegory of love through a scene rich in symbolism. We discover Cupid, god of love, represented "blind" with blindfolded eyes, guided by a small dog, symbol of fidelity. The scene leads to the foot of an altar crowned with a flaming heart, emblem of passion and amorous ardor.
