"Pair Of Opaline Overlay Vases "
Pair of vases in doubled opaline. It has a Gothic-inspired decoration. They are composed of two layers of opaline, white and green. The glassmaker cut ogive patterns into the outer layer of white enamel, revealing the inner green layer. This process discovered in 1814 by Joseph Price of Durham was taken up in 1828 by the Bercy crystal factory and subsequently by Baccarat and St Louis. These vases date from the years 1845-1865.
