The drapery of a heavy cape decorated with trimmings frames a lion and an eagle presenting the collar of the Order of the Garter with initials in its center.
At the bottom is the Anglo-Norman motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense". Motto of the Order of the Garter, the most important order of British Chivalry created by Edward III in 1348.
Not visible in the photos, the orange festoon of the cape is lightly spangled with gold.
