"Siamese Bed Slope Printed With Indigo Wax Reserve - France Circa 1780"
Circa 1780 France Siamese (cotton linen) slope or panel printed with indigo wax reserve representing the famous pomegranate motif and dating from the end of the 18th century. White picotage in the large acanthus leaves and cabbage leaves, motifs declined in the 17th and 18th centuries in particular in Rouen, Carrara near Lyon, in Occitania and in northern Italy. The indigo side is powerful in its original colors which have nothing to do with the 19th century prints. The other side is lined with a saffron yellow cotton siamese which was made in the 20th century for its good conservation. The vibrant colors of the indigo are remarkable.
