Signed lower right with artist's stamp The Name of the Rose by director Jean-Jacques Annaud, is the film adaptation of the eponymous novel by Italian writer Umberto Ecco, enhanced by the extraordinary performance of Scottish actor Sean Connery in the role of the monk William of Baskerville. It was released in the United States on September 24, 1986 and in France on December 17 of the same year. He was awarded several times during the César ceremony in 1987. Jean-Jacques Annaud called on Philippe Druillet, seduced by his fantastic world in total harmony with the dark atmosphere of the film, to create the costumes and the poster for the film, for which he had also been the author for the film La Guerre du feu, by Jean-Jacques Annaud, released in 1981.
