Maslaghan rug, Iran, circa 1960-1970, in hand-knotted wool.
This rug measures 132 cm wide by 202 cm long, in perfect condition.
Typical decoration of the central medallion cut out of Maslaghan rugs, placed on a field lacerated with large points.
A type recognizable at first glance by all enthusiasts and with very attractive colors.
The small village of Kerdar in Iran is the only place where Maslaghan rugs are knotted.
They are recognizable by this large diamond-shaped field with zigzag sides that are echoed by the spandrels (corners or angles of the field). Extending along the edges, and meeting along the length of the carpet, this creates a completely unusual decor.
Our carpet is widely sown with flowers: roses, carnations, and daisies (slightly resembling the Minakhani, a motif of Veramin carpets). The four spandrels highlight on a black background, beautiful rows of flowers echoing all the nuances of the carpet.
The medallion of a magnificent plain scarlet red, contrasts completely with the rest of the carpet and gives it an intense decorative side.
The border is tied with large flowers placed in the symbolism of water.
Counter-borders align small botehs all around. In the end, a Maslaghan carpet of great beauty.
Dimensions: width: 132 cm (52") x length: 202 cm (79") This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
