Object description :

"“the Green Bus” By André Lauran (1922-2009)"
André Lauran is a painter of landscapes, still lifes and figures. His great source of inspiration is Paris and its emblematic sites. On our painting, dated 1961, we can see in the background the roofs of a palace (Luxembourg or Louvre). In the foreground a scene of Paris in the 60s with a green bus, a user who is getting on the back, and a Morris column. Enough to make nostalgic those who knew the capital at that time. Green is the dominant color of this urban scene, an ecological Paris before its time.
Signed and dated  " Lauran 61"

André Lauran studied at the Beaux Arts of Lyon and Valence where he exhibited for the first time in 1941. Then in Lyon in 1948 at the Salon des Surindependants. He became a member of Sanzism, a Lyon artistic movement. After a stay in the US in 1952 and 53 he was appointed professor of drawing in 3 Parisian colleges, while exhibiting in salons and art galleries. His works are exhibited in various public places in France, Germany, Japan and the United States. (see Wikipedia) Beautifully framed. The frame takes up the wine tones of the painting.
