Jolly Emile – Boy Driving A White Horse – Watercolor – Circa 1880 - Signed

The scene depicts a young man holding a white horse by the bridle. Both seem to be moving quite quickly. The boy is wearing a round hat and a blue-black jacket. The horse is captured in its movement, none of the 4 legs touching the ground.
Emile JOLLY is the painter of working horses at the end of the 19th century. The animals are depicted in detail, with particular attention to the musculature and harnesses.
The work is signed lower right. It is in excellent condition, without stains. It has been carefully framed and placed under glass. The gilded frame is original.
