"Mons 1814-18, Cake Server, Solid Silver, Deshorgnies Pierre Louis, Cake Shovel"
Extremely rare cake serving shovel in solid silver and turned ebony from the Louis XVIII period. It is beautifully engraved with motifs inspired by the Louis XVI style. On the back of the shovel are struck three hallmarks from the period 1814 to 1831: that of the Mons guarantee office, the hallmark of the 833% silver title and the hallmark of master goldsmith Pierre Louis Deshorgnies, active in Mons from the old regime until 1818. The combination of data therefore allows us to determine fairly precisely the dating of the shovel between 1814 and 1818. It weighs approximately 120 grams.
