"Pair Of Armchairs Stamped Marcus, Circa 1830 "
Rare Pair of Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Armchairs, Stamped MARCUS, circa 1830. The Armrests are Moylures Connection and the Supports are Console with Acanthus Leaves Rise. The seat is Frame, curved on the Front. The front base is Jarret, and the back is Sabre. They are reupholstered with light gray Fabric with Zebra Pattern Decor, edged with Piping Braid. They are Stamped MARCUS. Period of the first half of the 19th century circa 1830. They measure 95 CM in Height, 57 CM in Length and 48 CM in Depth, the Seat Height is 44 CM. They are in Very Good condition. MARCUS: a furniture carpenter who ran a factory in Paris, he was on rue Amelot between 1827 and 1842 - but already under the Consulate and the Empire, he had invented a sofa with a back with arched cheeks that bore his name. At the exhibition at the Pavillon de Marsan in 1930, there was a pair of lemonwood chairs from the Tuileries Palace.
