Pewter PITCHER, with shoulder, plinth foot, straight heel cup and S-shaped thumb with molded crest and creeping tongue.
Control mark: crowned C / MELVN / 1691.
Mark of Louis-Philippe MALET received master before 1750: crowned reptile / LPM
Height: 20.6 cm.
MELUN, Mid-18th century

Rare provenance in very good condition.
Few examples from this center are known. In many centers, the 1691 control was not updated each year as provided for by the edict of Louis XIV. In MELUN, the 1691 control was used throughout almost the entire 18th century and therefore does not allow objects to be dated precisely on its own. Bibliography: Notes by Michel SCHONN
