This oil on canvas depicting a mountain landscape dates from the middle of the 19th century, it was made by Jean-Baptiste Georges Gassies. The work depicts a mountainous landscape with a partly snow-capped peak in the background, we can also notice a waterfall and a hiker. The painting is signed at the bottom left. Jean-Baptiste Georges Gassies was born in 1829 in Paris and died in 1919 in Montluçon, he is a French painter and watercolorist, very early he left his studio in Chailly en Brière to settle in Barbizon.
