Cylindrical Box - Middle - East Brass Engraved Silver Fillet - Pyxis Style XVIII / XIX

Small “pyxis style” box – Cylindrical container with domed lid, in sculpted brass and inlaid with silver fillets, dating from the 19th century, Middle East.

Main features:
Dimensions: Height 7 cm, diameter 3.9 cm.

Materials: Finely carved and chiseled brass over the entire surface, including the underside, with solid silver inlays.

Design details:
Cover: Engraved with calligraphy in cartridges separated by pilasters decorated with plant motifs. The top is decorated with birds and flowers chiselled in a plant frieze, with a central dome divided into six parts by silver fillets.

Box: Decorated with four remarkable cartridges representing characters seated in symbolic scenes, separated by columns. The motifs are highlighted by intertwined friezes and framed with two silver fillets.

Below: Central squared engraving surrounded by a delicately chiseled frieze.

State : Good condition with natural wear, a beautiful patina and a few small dents testifying to its age (see photos).

Particularities: Two visible centering points (on the top of the dome and in the center of the bottom), probably used for lathe work before the sculptures.

This object, made with exceptional care, combines meticulous details with an authentic patina, making it an ideal piece for lovers of Middle Eastern art and culture.
