"Fernand Cian (1886-1954) Terracotta Sculpture "serenity", Paris Salon 1922"
Terracotta sculpture representing a bust of a woman "La sérénité", resting on a square stone base (fixed). Signed on the side and exhibited at the Paris salon in 1922 (inscription on the back). Early 20th century. Size 42 cm and 50 cm with the base. The sculptor Fernando Ciancianaini, known as Fernand Cian, worked in Paris with Laporte-Blairsy, a student of Falguière. He exhibited eleven times at the Salon des Artistes français from 1907 to 1928 (honorable mention in 1921). He developed a production of pastiches of children's busts in the 18th century style. He perhaps sometimes signed them with the names of famous artists or sometimes with his own name but by backdating the work: this is the case at the Louvre Museum with another bust backdated "1771".
