Coffee table with ears of wheat. Patinated metal sculpture. Circular glass plate. By Robert Goossens (1927-2016), goldsmith and jeweler who trained in workshops working for Cartier. He worked as an independent craftsman and in the 1950s began making jewelry for Gabrielle Coco Chanel. He would also work for Hermès, Dior, Balenciaga and other big names in fashion. For Chanel he would create not only jewelry but also furniture and chandeliers, inventing an incredible repertoire of shapes that marked the decorative arts of the 1960s and 1970s, such as the table depicting an ear of wheat. He would also collaborate with Maison Saint-Laurent from the mid-1970s for which he also created many pieces of jewelry. He sold his company and boutique to Chanel in 2005. France, circa 1970.
