French animal sculptor Considered a great animal sculptor, he was nicknamed in 1879 "the statuary of lions and tigers": His works can be found in the Tuileries Garden and the basin of the Trocadéro garden in Paris as well as at the Château de Chantilly, in Geneva and even in New York.
After his death, the Barbedienne foundry which continues to make prints.
His father-in-law is Pierre-Jules Mène who was his master associate
