The work is the result of Krugier's collaboration with the artist's niece Danila Rosso Parravicini, as indicated in the stamp.
Henri Rouart wears a large artist's tunic and cap. His face, slightly tilted to the artist's right, shows the age of a mature man with a beard and mustache.
