"Piha Kaetta Knife "
Splendid Piha Kaetta with steel blade comprising near the back two grooves inlaid with chiseled brass. Below, two cartouches inlaid with chiseled brass. At the ricassot, a richly chiseled brass piece enveloping the underside of the blade. Chiseled brass handle starting at the ricassot on the back of the blade with two superbly colored marine ivory plates and held by two brass rivets. Pommel covered by a richly worked brass piece and held by two rivets under which are two horseshoe-shaped brass pieces, each triple riveted. Above, turned brass button. In the center of the handle on both sides, garnish of two riveted brass pieces. The marine ivory itself is superbly worked. Perfect condition for this piece originating from Ceylon and dating from the 18th century or at most the beginning of the 19th century.
