Louis XVI period Nantais port cabinet in Cuban mahogany, composed of two parts. The lower part has four drawers with a recessed front. They are fitted with a functional original lock, a key and a diamond-shaped entry. Above, a shelf that is pulled out using two brass buttons, slides and reveals a mitered frame and green leather with gold vignette and cold-stamped edging. On each side, the canted uprights are decorated with 3 stopped grooves. This desk rests on spindle legs also fitted with stopped grooves. The top of this base unit is formed by a wide mitered frame and has canted corners at the front. The upper part of this unique piece of furniture is composed in the center of a glass door with a mitered frame, functional lock, key and diamond-shaped brass entry. Inside, a shelf is adjustable on racks. On each side of this display case, two arched doors open onto a small rounded shelf and underneath, we find a drawer with a knockout front, lock and key. Finally, this unique desk is topped with gray marble with rounded corners on the front to follow the lines of the front. ******** Period: Late 18th century Excellent condition after restoration in our cabinetmaking workshop.
