Object description :

"Rare Porcelain Teacup From Fontainebleau - Baruch-weil Manufactory - Early 19th Century"
Pink background delicately decorated with gilded ornamental motifs, including finely executed fleurons, rosettes and arabesques. The borders are enhanced with gold fillets, adding a touch of elegance and refinement to the whole. Porcelain manufacturers used different methods to mark their productions: some pieces were marked with a brush or stencil, while another part had a label stuck on the back. Finally, there were also pieces without any mark or label. However, the use of stuck labels was the main method to identify the porcelain produced. Over time, and especially due to repeated washing, these labels often peeled off. Nowadays, it is extremely rare to find these labels intact on the back of porcelain. This is precisely what makes Fontainebleau porcelain so exceptional: the rare pieces still with their original label testify to their provenance and authenticity, making them objects of incomparable heritage and historical value. Brand: Has the label of the Manufacture de Fontainebleau de BARUCH-WEILL, Dimension(s): Cup: Height. 5 - Length. 11.7 - Saucer: Diam. 15.2 cm, Condition(s): PERFECT CONDITION, Period: EARLY 19th CENTURY. The Fontainebleau porcelain factory founded by Baruch Weil was active from 1827 to 1840. A Jewish industrialist and art collector of Alsatian origin, established the factory in Fontainebleau, a town already famous for its castle and its rich artistic heritage. Weil was part of the general movement of the renaissance of decorative arts in France after the Revolution, a period when manufacturers competed in ingenuity to meet a growing demand for luxury objects. During this relatively short period, the factory produced high-quality pieces, often compared to the productions of royal factories such as Sèvres and Parisian factories. However, despite the finesse and elegance of its creations, it closed its doors due to financial difficulties and increased competition from Limoges on the porcelain market. Pieces from this factory are very rare today, almost impossible to find with a brand or label like this one.
