The box is oval, in a neoclassical style announcing the fashion of the reign of Louis XVI. It is entirely decorated with a chiseled decoration of oval cartouches on an amati background, decorated with garlands of flowers and leaves and frames of ribbon friezes.
The lid is decorated with a plant trophy and a scythe, held by a large knot and garland of leaves.
The bottom is chiseled with a bouquet of flowers.
The box is hallmarked:

. Jurande hallmark: date letter K for the year 1773 - 1774
. Goldsmith hallmark CMB with a star for Claude Marin Bernard, received master in 1766
. Discharge mark from the same period: head in profile to the right
. Countermark mark from the following period (1774-1789): a man's slipper
. Another mark to identify: a wolf's head (?) turned to the left
