Born on June 24, 1911 in Morschwiller-le-Bas, Robert Mischler lives in Mulhouse, 5 rue Bonbonnière. He was a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Mulhouse from 1925 to 1928 where he had Messrs. Plantey, Martin and Weber as teachers. Advertising painter until 1975 and master painter in letters (1948), he considers himself only as an amateur painter. He is a member of the Artistes Indépendants. He participated in various regional, national and international exhibitions, notably in Rome, Paris, Cannes, Deauville, Strasbourg, Biarritz, Montpellier, Berlin, Marseille (prize of excellence at the 1978 Salon), Burgundy, Franche-Comté (silver medal in 1978), Nice (2nd prize at the Grand Prix interrégional), Bergerac (3rd prize at the Festival d'Art pictural), at the Grand Concours I nternational de Lutèce in Paris (1981, silver medal). He had solo exhibitions in Strasbourg, Colmar, Mulhouse, Biarritz and Metz. His techniques? Oil painting either with a brush or a knife, pen drawing. He also created theater sets. He painted landscapes, flowers, still lifes. "Certainly, it is wise painting, very classical. But not at all conventional. There is, in these fifty oils... no photographic side..." (CL.M.). "All the paintings are of a scrupulous descriptive reality with a conscientious concern for detail, respect for the perspective and proportions of the thing depicted ...". (R. Fischer).
