The box has a scalloped shape, the body is in plain silver.
The lid is set with a very beautiful plate of Sahara jasper that matches the shape of the box. It is highlighted by the engraving of the edge of the lid presenting a frieze of flowers and rocaille shells.
The interior of the box is in silver gilt.
An inscription with a point is inscribed on the bottom, perhaps an inventory number?
The box is hallmarked:
. Lion passant for English solid silver
. Date letter poorly struck and unidentifiable
Very beautiful box, typical of 18th century English production with this characteristic shape and stone.
