Pair of reversible candlesticks in finely chiseled gilt bronze and cobalt blue porcelain. Resting on a square gilt bronze base, the porcelain body is ovoid, flanked by bronze handles decorated with rams' heads. The bronze lid is removable to transform into a candlestick. This 18th century creation in the George III style is the work of Matthew Boulton, a British industrialist associated with the engineer James Watt. He contributed to the industrial boom of the late 18th century, and brought the mercury gilding technique to his decorative object manufacturing company. In perfect condition, no cracks or chips on the porcelain, original assembly. Height of the cassolettes: 19.5cm - height of the candlesticks: 22cm base: 6.5/6.5cm
