before the letter. beautiful proof, colored in ink, watercolor and gouache.
The black background of this oval composition is hand painted with ink. The italian woman, with a napolitan hair top, holds a lamb in her arms, the whole coloured with watercolour, and completed by gouache enhances. Mountains landscape on the back of the sitter.  This proof could have been put in colours by the master colorist of Goupil workshop to serve as a model to other colorists.
Very good condition of conservation  for the time
