Bizen ware is known for its earthy, unglazed beauty and its organic, rough, rough shapes.
Although not particularly old, circa 1975, this piece exudes a rustic charm evoking the history of Japanese pottery.
From their studio in Ushimado, the artist couple (Ogawa Chinichirou & Ogawa Mayumi) begin each day by paying homage to the spiritual mountain, Kumayama, which seems to imbue their work with a mysterious power.
