Since his early childhood Jean-Louis has loved contact with matter and rethinking the world. After taking courses at the Beaux-Arts, Jean-Louis oriented himself and practiced several artistic practices but he did not seem to truly find his way. It was only in 1987 that he decided to devote himself solely to sculpture. He took as his reference artists big names, such as Niki de Saint-Phalle and Fernando Botero, whose creations inspired him on a daily basis. Jean-Louis' work takes simple motifs in order to be able to address and touch the widest possible audience, the sculptor, not pretentious, is like his creations all in curves, humble and easy to access, for children as well as adults. The work of Jean-Louis Toutain is presented during numerous exhibitions, personal and collective, in different French art galleries, the artist has also obtained numerous prizes during his long career. Jean-Louis Toutain died in 2008.
