"Large Neoclassical Trumeau With Roman Ruin Landscape. "
Large Louis XVI style trumeau in green painted wood and gilded wood, decorated with a mercury mirror and a landscape of ruins painted on canvas. Very decorative by the combination of Louis XVI ornamentation with flower baskets, falling bouquets of flowers tied with ribbons, ribboned rushes and ribbons, associated with a painting representing an imaginary landscape of Roman ruins animated by characters and animals in the style of Hubert Robert's paintings, form a perfect element of neoclassical decoration. This piece of woodwork which was surely placed on a fireplace, dates from the 19th century, it is however composed of older elements. If we note some accidents and losses to the gilding as well as wear to the painting this set is nonetheless decorative and very interesting. Dimensions: Height: 173 cm Width: 114 cm
