Lovely French school signed lower right by Eugène Henri Cauchois, late 19th century circa 1890.

Biography:

Eugène Cauchois, born in Rouen (Seine Maritime), February 14, 1850, died in Paris, October 7, 1911. French painter.

Eugène Cauchois entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris in the classes of Ferdinand Dubos and Alexandre Cabanel. He specializes in still-life compositions based on fruit, flowers, and kitchen utensils. He also painted landscapes and marine views.

In 1876 in Paris, he married Louise Ladevèze, with painter Eugène Capelle as his best man.

He stayed in Brussels in 1878-1879. He was in the habit of signing his paintings with the name of the month in which they were painted.

At the end of his life, Eugène Cauchois took up decorative painting with floral compositions.

He had a Parisian studio at number 32 rue des Dames in Paris (17th arrondissement). The painter Marcellin Desboutin (1823-1902) was his neighbor there.

Eugène Cauchois made his first exhibition at Le Salon de 1874, then sent his works to the Salon des Artistes Français in 1881, 1890 (where he became a member), 1898 (third-class medal), 1904 (second-class medal), and 1908 (Le train a passé; Mélancolie).
