Circa 1955 France Evening or ceremony dress with matching bolero and purse by Pierre Balmain Paris dating from the 1950s. Ivory Duchesse satin embroidered with white and silver tubular beads, cultured pearls, silver sequins and iridescent sequins. Straight-cut bolero with short sleeves. Bustier with large, richly embroidered neckline and straps with wide satin tabs. Skirt sewn with draped effect held at the hips. Dress fastens at the back with a zip and hook. Matching purse or reticule closing with an ivory silk cord tie. Cream silk pongee lining. White background label with black graphics Boutique Pierre Balmain Paris. A two cm repair of the silk in the folds at the bottom of the skirt (hardly noticeable) and very tiny micro-stains at the bottom, otherwise very good condition in terms of color and conservation.
