This patinated plaster bust is an old print from the Louvre modeling workshops under the Second Empire (1852-1870), representing a bust of Jeanne Bécu, known as "Madame du Barry" after the model made by the sculptor Augustin Pajou (1730-1809). Dating from the Second Empire period, our bust is referenced in the "catalogue of plasters found at the casting sales office - Palais du Louvre. - Pavillon Daru; Paris, Imprimerie Impériale" dating from 1864. The bust has information on the back indicating that the (original) bust was made by Pajou, sculptor to the king and professor at his academy, and that the model was finished sculpting in 1773. There is also the mention: "portrait of Madame la Contesse du Bary" we note that comtesse is written with an "n" and that du Barry has only one "r". Dimensions: Height: 72 cm
