Robert Schleich was a German landscape painter, son of the engraver Adrian Schleich (1812-1894) and grandson of the engraver Johann Karl Schleich (1759-1842). Schleich studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich under Wilhelm von Diez from 20 November 1873. He was influenced by Eduard Schleich the Elder (1812-1874). Robert Schleich was elected an honorary member of the Munich Academy and appointed professor. Robert Schleich was a member of the Reichsverband bildender Künstler Deutschlands and the Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft. He painted almost exclusively landscapes, often depicting the hay harvest.
