"Regency Style Gilt Bronze Flambeau Candle Holder - 19th Century"
Regency Style Flambeau Candlestick in Gilt Bronze - 19th Century

Magnificent Regency style torch candlestick, made in the 19th century, around 1850. This torch is distinguished by its cut-sided silhouette which rises gracefully from the base to the binet, decorated with rich, finely chiseled decorative motifs.

Sculpted details include foliage, shells, stylized friezes, arabesques, as well as eagles in refined cartouches and masks, iconic signatures of the Regency style.
The barrel is decorated with relief portraits evoking ancient cameos, adding a note of sophistication.

The alternation between the finely worked matte surfaces and the smooth golden parts gives this object a particular shine, highlighting the exceptional know-how of the bronze workers of the time.

History and Function:
The torch, designed for a single candle, differs from candelabras with several arms. In the 18th century, the term referred to a footed candlestick intended to hold a beeswax candle.
These pieces, often made by talented goldsmiths or bronze workers, were considered true works of art, exhibited in prestigious homes and museums.

Dimensions:
                    - Base diameter: 15.4 cm
                    - Barrel diameter: 4 cm
                    - Diameter of the bin: 6 cm
                    - Total height: 24.5 cm

State
This candlestick is in good general condition, with a shaft slightly offset from the base, testifying to its authenticity and its use over time. Some visible traces of friction, but they in no way alter its charm or decorative value.

A rare and elegant piece, perfect for lovers of decorative art or collectors in search of authenticity.
