Head of a huge Vanuatu slit gong drum made of breadfruit. The slit drums of Ambrym Island are still used today to communicate within villages and to set the rhythm for traditional dances on the dance square called "Nasara". These majestic shapes, typical of Ambrym Island, have made these totem drums one of the strong symbols of this region of the South Pacific.
