Biography:
Joan Seguranyes i Redorta, born in 1932 Joan Seguranyes i Redorta (Vic, 1932) is a Spanish sculptor. Son of the sculptor Jaume Seguranyes i Solà, with whom he began to learn sculpture, he studied at the Municipal School of Drawing and Sculpture of Vic, as well as at the School of Arts and Crafts of Barcelona (School of La Lonja).
At first, he worked as an assistant to Josep Clarà who strongly influenced him. Since 1960 he has participated in various group exhibitions, exhibiting for the first time individually in 1970 at the Sala Articolor in Vic and, later, in Barcelona, Sabadell, Alicante, Reus, Lloret, etc. In 1960 he received the Gold Medal of the city, as well as a first prize -, Sabadell, Elda, Reus, Barcelona, Lloret de Mar, Sitges, San Lorenzo. from El Escorial, Tossa de Mar, Lleida, Vilafranca del Penedès, Tarragona, Zaragoza, Avinyó, Salou, etc. His work, dedicated in particular to the female nude, is the heir of Catalan Noucentisme.
His working method is generally based on modeling in clay, which he then casts in bronze. He is the author, among others, of a Sant Pere for the façade of the headquarters of Vic, of the monument of L'estudiant de Vic, of a Sant Felip Neri for the Sagrada Família, of a Sant Jordi for the Regional Council of Osona in Vic, etc.
His work is also preserved in private collections and at the European Museum of Modern Art. He obtained the Gold Medal for sculpture from the City Hall of Vic and the Silver Medal from the 1st Saló International d'Ais de Provence.
