Beautiful 19th century Empire period clock in finely chiseled gilded bronze depicting Venus and her son Cupid, the goddess holds a pair of scissors as she prepares to cut off a wing of Cupid to retain love, while the lower part is animated by a bas-relief with cherub blacksmiths, in many cultures the blacksmith illustrates the one who brings cultural knowledge to humans, he is the one who possesses a creative power that transforms matter, giving it a dimension close to magic or divine knowledge, all mythologies venerate one or more blacksmiths who agree to create marvelous or magical objects and weapons, such as the adornments of the gods, the arrows of Apollo and Eros, the breastplate of Heracles, the belt of Aphrodite, the throne and aegis of Zeus and Hera.
