Dated 1903 in the middle of the Art Nouveau period, this painting has a superb light and the color palette is quite unique, we have the impression that this painting is naturally lit. Signed Guyon, perhaps the work of Maximilienne Guyon (1868-1903)* indeed the posture and style are close to the works of this painter adored by Princess Mathilde. The frame is modern but in quality gilded wood, the canvas has undergone a somewhat clumsy restoration in the hair and the mark of the dealer of canvzs F.Perrod, 33bis Boulevard de Clichy à Paris.

*Maximilienne Guyon, also known as Maximilienne Goepp (1868-1903) is a French artist, portrait painter, watercolorist, engraver, illustrator and teacher of the Belle Époque.
A student at the Académie Julian, Maximilienne Guyon studied under the painters Gustave Boulanger, Jules Lefebvre and Tony Robert-Fleury.
At the 1889 World's Fair, she received the silver medal and was awarded a travel grant. She was part of the delegation of French women artists presented at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, gathered in the Woman's Building.
Several of her drawings were engraved to illustrate Le Petit Piano, a musical reading journal, a supplement to La Mode illustrée (1894).
From 1895 to 1898, she published works that were engraved for Le Monde illustré. She also contributed to Le Soleil du dimanche, and to the Christmas 1894 and 1897 issues of L'Illustration. "Maris Stella" was reproduced in L'Estampe moderne in July 1898 (Dallas Museum of Art).
She also produced posters and illustrations for books.
