Servius Sulpicius Galba Caesar Augustus (in Latin Servius Sulpicius Galba Caesar Augustus; Terracina, 24 December 3 BC – Rome, 15 January 69) was a Roman emperor, known simply as Servius Sulpicius Galba and also known by the cognomen Galba.
He completed the entire cursus honorum up to the consulate and the positions of governor in Germania superior, Africa proconsularis and in Hispania Tarraconensis; he supported the revolt of Julius Vindex and, upon the death of both the latter and Nero, he ascended to the throne, the first to reign during the Year of the Four Emperors.
After just seven months of government, on January 15, 69 he was deposed and assassinated by the Praetorians, who named Otho emperor.
