"Rare Mahogany Commode, Louis XVI Period – 2nd Part 18th Century"
This chest of drawers, of Parisian work, offers a belt drawer, simulating three facades in burl mahogany, each of which is highlighted by a double inlaid brass fillet. This drawer is equipped with bronze handles with falling garlands as well as an authentic lock accompanied by its entry and key. Below, this chest of drawers also opens with two drawers with hidden crosspieces with central lock with simultaneous condemnation and falling crown handles also in bronze. The interior of their facades, in burl mahogany with mahogany thread frame, are embellished with an oval surrounded by a quarter round in brass and rectangles, with concave edges, with perfect symmetry and uninterrupted inlays. The uprights with projections and chamfers are also inlaid with fillets, and decorated with bronze motifs and half-collars. They end with feet covered with brass inlays and sabots. The sides worked in the same spirit are, each of them, darkened with a small and a large panel in mahogany burl with a frame in mahogany thread. The top is topped with a marble, Belgian granite small mixture, with groove. The frame of the furniture and the drawer interiors are in oak. This rare chest of drawers represents a beautiful example of the craftsmanship of the Louis XVI period, combining utility and refined aesthetics. It would be an elegant addition to any classic interior. ******** Period: 2nd Part 18th Excellent condition.
