Furious Medea after Eugène Delacroix signed EC for E Cussac MEDEA. In Greek mythology, a sorceress with great powers, famous for her crimes committed under the influence of her love for the hero Jason. Daughter of King Aeetes of Colchis, Medea is the granddaughter of Helios, the Sun, and niece of the sorceress Circe. Some traditions give her mother as Hecate, the evil deity of Darkness and patron saint of sorceress.
